Bring on the rain...

Today I took a much needed day to myself. I did not go to the kids school. I did not watch TV. I did not call into work. I did not even go see the boys. I just hung out at home, cleaning, piddling, organizing and being me. It was really nice.
Last night me and the kids were missing my parents. We have all been loving on the boys so much that we just moved in on Lindsay and Chip. There was no other place that me and my parents would have wanted to be. It is very hard to let go and go back home. I miss seeing the boys all the time but it is nice to see Chip and Lindsay settling into parenthood. Anyway, I did not realize just how much my children missed their grandparents being around here too. My parents are regulars here. Sometimes they are here for a long visit and sometimes they just ride by to love on the kids. They are always in arms reach and only a call away to jump in and help me and Greg out with our crazy life. This past month they have really missed their grandparents and I just did not realize how much. We had them over for an impromptu dinner. Drive thru at Wendy's. It was not the quality of the food that made the dinner so special, it was the quality of the company. My children laughed and told stories, and of course Mom and Dad laughed at everything that came out of each ones mouths. They had so much to catch them up on and my parents made each one of them feel special by listening. It made me so happy that they came. After they left, I realized how thank-full I am to have them so close and on call to me and my family. We should never take for granted the time we spend with the ones that matter most.
Back to today...I love rain. I love thunder, lightening and really big winds. Call me crazy but there is no feeling like the safety of your home while everything is crazy right outside your window. I like taking Mondays off and never really mind if it is raining on those days. I can chill at home without feeling like I have to take advantage of the day off to run tons of errands or work outside in the yard. My parents called to check on me several times. Separately, I don't even know if they knew the other was calling. They just checked in to make sure I was safe. Again, gotta love em.
Tomorrow I am going back to work and start another busy week. I have interviews, events, caterings and parties to plan. I have hired Jessica to work on my team. She is really doing a great job. I will post more about that later. I am posting a picture of her in her CFA uniform.
